Day 2 on the GR20 was an unforgettable test of endurance. Starting from Refuge d'Ortu di U Piobbu, we faced a challenging ascent through dense beech forests before scrambling up to the summit at 2,000 meters. The day’s highlight turned into a battle with hailstorms and slippery boulders, making our journey to Refuge de Carozzu both grueling and exhilarating. Despite the harsh weather, our arrival at the refuge offered some respite, though the food left much to be desired. With the forecast predicting more rain, we planned to start our hike early the next morning. This day underscored the GR20’s reputation for unpredictability and rugged beauty, setting the stage for the adventures yet to come.
